Otafuku x Goodfight

The Otafuku x Goodfight collaboration has been a long time in the making - when Mieko first asked us to work on something together we discussed a variety of things (which you’ll hopefully see in the future…!), but for our first object together we decided to work on a simple pair of everyday socks. It’s the simple things, after all, that can make the biggest difference.

After several different concepts, we honed in on the idea of an athletic ankle sock cut at an ideal length for shorts or full-length pants. Brand logos were intentionally placed separately on each sock instead of together on one to symbolize two separate entities coming together and working as one. Moreover, this would allow someone who bought a few pairs to wear a single brand’s logo depending on the day or moment. For the collaboration “Goodfight” was re-interpreted through Otafuku’s new logotype which was designed by Mieko’s friends from Folklor who have created the visual brand identities for some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles like Shins Pizza, No Smoking Bar, Gjusta, Gjelina, and others.

The socks were knit in Nara, Japan, utilizing a cotton-blend that provides great comfort, cushioning, breathability, and shrinks minimally when washed. Each pair is packaged in compostable kraft paper coffee bags as a nod towards the soba noodles that Otafuku is famous for and the packaging that it uses for many of its food goods.

Available now at Otafuku restaurant and Goodfight studio & online while supplies last!
